With a national network of branches and distribution centres, S&T engages in markets and projects across infrastructure, construction (commercial and residential), heavy and light engineering, energy, manufacturing, viticulture and rural sectors. We now have an opportunity for a talented HR Advisor to join our busy People & Culture team for a 6-month contract engagement.Working with the People & Culture Business Partners and GM People & Culture to ensure that HR service delivery standards and key stakeholders’ expectations are met in a timely and appropriate fashion, we are looking for someone who is able to work independently as well as being aligned to the broader team. The opportunity:This contract role will see you assisting in the provision of advice to managers on HR issues, consistent with the HR Business Partnering approach and the organisational values. Responsible for ensuring allocated HR functions are actioned effectively and efficiently, in accordance with best practice, legislation and internal policy. Key responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:Assist with the administration of day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties, including document preparation, data collection, and file managementEnsure HR systems are updated to reflect current legislative and procedural requirementsReview and update appropriate policies and templates in accordance with employment law and strategic direction of the companyManaging performance issues, including conflict resolution, grievance, mediation, performance management and disciplinary processesGuide and support of organisational design and restructuring processes You will pride yourself on being commercially aware and astute in the NZ employment arena as well as being aware of external environmental factors that could potentially impact HR & the Steel & Tube business strategy, with the confidence and processes to raise appropriately. Tasks to be undertaken may include disciplinary investigations, restructuring support and preparation assistance, recruitment and termination of employment coordination. Required skills and experience:5-10 years’ mid-senior HR experience in a multi-site national business – Blue Collar experience highly advantageousDegree in Law or Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Organisational Psychology or another People & Culture specialisationProven experience in effective relationship management and using conflict resolution tools and strategiesDemonstrated experience across a range of key human resources frameworks, policies and processes in the employee lifecycleAbility to respond professionally and effectively to the needs of internal and external stakeholders, including proven experience in communicating, negotiating and influencing business managers and leader We are seeking a strong and decisive HR Advisor, with proven experience demonstrating application of excellent judgement and problem solving, including the ability to develop pragmatic solutions with successful business outcomes.
